Mr Abdullahi said that the victim was brought out of the water dead and his corpse was handed over to his father.
He said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that two women lost their lives in a pond in Gezawa LGA.
The state fire service spokesperson said that the rescue team found one family house, known as gidan Ado Yubai, engulfed by fire upon arrival.
Mr Abdullahi said those rescued had been taken to the ward head of Gargajiga town.
Mr Abdullahi reiterated NEMA’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate by engaging critical stakeholders in disaster response.
The NEMA coordinator of the Kano territorial office, Nuraddeen Abdullahi, confirmed the development on Thursday.
NEMA said that the couple were rushed to the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Kano for treatment.
Mr Abdullahi said the service responded to 12 emergency calls and one false alarm from residents of the state during the period.
The service’s spokesman, Saminu Abdullahi, told journalists on Tuesday in Kano that five persons died and N15.6 million property were lost to the fire in June.
