Mr Idris described the defection of the Kaura Namoda PDP chairman as a welcome development.
The governor also called for the creation of a North-West Theatre Command, bringing the Nigerian Army’s 1st and 8th Divisions under a unified command structure.
Mr Ologunagba also disclosed that the NEC affirmed Umar Damagum as the substantive national chairman of the party.
The Zamfara chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress are trading accusations over alleged irregularities in the Kaura Namoda South by-election.
The party urged the authorities to make sure that only the reputable security agencies were involved in the election process.
“We should pray to God and seek his intervention. I believe that with constant prayers, all these challenges will become history,” the Zamfara governor stated.
He prayed to God to grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed, and comfort to their loved ones.
Mr Haidara said that the 17 victims were buried in Kaura Namoda town on Wednesday.
Ms Maradun said that the ministry would ensure the prompt release of funds for NTDs’ activities.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Maru and Bungudu Local Government Areas.
