Recently, 17 bodies of passengers without life jackets were recovered along the Mile 2- Ibeshe route in Lagos after their boat capsized.
The Lagos government accused the boat driver of breaking waterways rules by sailing late in the evening without providing passengers with life jackets.
The zone coordinator, South-West, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, said that 17 bodies had been recovered so far from the recovery operations of the missing victims.
The boat was said to have been carrying 16 people when it capsized along the Ojo area of the state.
“It is said that all passengers on board which, includes children were not all putting on their life jackets.”
The floating clinic boat would enhance safety on waterways and serve riverine communities, state officials said.
