The human rights organisation called on the federal and state governments to show genuine commitment to protecting lives and property.
The JNI called on the government to take decisive action to address the security challenges in the country.
“So long as we fail to address crucial social challenges such as unemployment…we will continue to experience these ugly consequences,” said Peter Obi.
The commissioner stated the attack was in retaliation for the community’s successful defence efforts two days ago.
He said the action was sequel to a report received by the government over alleged illegal sale.
A resident said the assailants stormed the estate at about 11:00 p.m. and immediately began to shoot into the air.
The police swooped in one the bandit after a distress call in the wee hours of Thursday indicated the gun-wielding criminals had invaded Kirfi village and abducted a man, Kabir Sule.
