President Bola Tinubu’s government has partnered Shelter Afrique Development (ShafDB) to deliver 5000 housing units to provide housing for Nigerians.
The minister said it is unfortunate that the issue of building collapse has once again reared its ugly head in Nigeria.
Mr Dangiwa also urged the contractors to work on the houses according to specifications,
He said the project was funded by the federal government, using the ministry’s N50 billion supplementary budget.
Mr Dangiwa said the project was being funded from the N50 billion 2023 Supplementary Budget approved for the ministry.
Mr Dangiwa said the federal government adopted sound financial arrangements to enable Nigerians purchase the houses.
Mr Dangiwa added that the ministry’s overall strategic action plan was centred on the three core pillars of Mr Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The minister said the construction of each housing unit in Kano is expected to generate 25 direct and indirect jobs.
He said the platform would provide easy access to mortgage plans, allowing homebuyers to check their eligibility and apply from anywhere in the world.
“We are worried that many Nigerians do not have shelter and we want to do something about it.’’
