NAFDAC director-general Mojisola Adeyeye disclosed this at a media parley, organised by the agency, on Wednesday in Lagos.
“The approved infant formulae marketed in Nigeria are not part of the voluntary recall announced by Nestlé UK,” said NAFDAC chief.
They stated, “The manufacturing process of these products is mostly mechanised and requires relatively limited human effort; hence, the claims about huge job losses are contrived.’’
NAFDAC said the enforcement would ensure full compliance with the total ban on the production and sale of alcoholic beverages in sachets and PET bottles.
Johnson Bello, a resident of Keffi, condemned the use of chemicals, saying that such practices endanger consumers’ health.
NAFDAC is partnering NNMDA to develop herbal medicines to ensure safety, efficacy, and global acceptance.
They were also found to be selling body enlargement creams and drugs for breasts and buttocks, including other toxic substances produced with dangerous chemicals.
The agency said that investigation into the illegal outfit was ongoing.
NAFDAC said the word ‘distributed’ was also wrongly spelt as ‘Distnibuted’ on the fake products.
The five-day operation was conducted by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement team at the cosmetics section of the market.
