The suspension came after the aviation authority threatened to revoke airlines’ licences due to unpaid debts to the regulatory agency.
Airline operators say that a week after the closure, work had yet to begin on the runway, causing “unsustainable additional operating costs” to airlines.
“All workers in NAMA, NCAA, NiMet and NCAT are hereby directed to embark on a two-day warning strike on the 9th and 10th of May, 2022.”
NCAA said it would continue to ensure operators’ strict adherence to regulations in all facets of their operations.
The airport has 3.7 kilometers of runway and a 34.4 metres control tower, and was constructed under 20 months.
