“The death of Nigerians in South Africa, particularly under police custody, has become a recurring issue that needs to be stopped,” the NICASA president-general said.
The Nigerian Citizens Association in South Africa has condemned the alleged murder of 37-year-old Nigerian Julius Chukwunta by four South Africans.
“It is pertinent to note that you cannot stop the masses from overreacting to what is happening.”
The recent xenophobic attack involved a South African gang and Nicholas John, an indigene of Ogun state and car dealer in the country.
“A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened. We will follow it up until the perpetrators are arrested and made to account for their crimes.”
NICASA says on-the-rampage ex-President Jacob Zuma’s supporters have destroyed properties belonging to Nigerians and other foreign nations.
