Mr Umar said the misconduct was detected through the automated passport application system operated by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
The NIMC had granted the NCoS the licence to conduct the registration at 256 custodial centres nationwide.
Mr Oyedokun stated that security agencies were working to re-capture the escaped inmates.
Mr Umar said the incident occurred at about 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, leading to a breach in the prison’s security infrastructure.
Mr Kabir-Yusuf expressed joy over the successful reformation of the inmates through formal education.
Mr Jahun said the governor pardoned the inmates after the Advisory Council recommended them for Prerogative of Mercy.
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has appointed a new controller, Olatubosun Ajibogun, to head its Federal Capital Territory command.
The gesture is part of efforts to decongest custodial centres in the state.
NCoS has called on the public to cooperate with the service to recapture 31 fleeing inmates.
The Kano command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) says 70 per cent of inmates are awaiting trial across the custodial centres.
