There are 61 prisoners from the Ogun prison studying various degree programmes at NOUN, including two masters degree students.
Suspected associates of an inmate on trial staged an attack during the suspect’s scheduled trial at the Lagos High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square.
A total of 240 inmates were said to have escaped after gunmen broke into the prison on September 12.
Mr Nababa appealed to the general public to provide useful intelligence to security operatives to recapture the escapees.
Mr El-Zakzaky and his wife were brought before the court by the Kaduna State Government after a clash in Zaria between IMN supporters and soldiers in 2015.
“The inmates escaped through the fence,” the controller said.
The minister’s directive followed the attack on the Owerri Custodial Centre where over 1,884 inmates escaped from custody on April 5.
He also promised to partner the NCoS and other stakeholders to improve the state’s criminal justice system.
“This includes those that resisted the temptation to escape during the attack.”
The confirmation followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Interior at plenary on Wednesday.
