Quoting a report to back up its claim, NITDA said that in 2018 “digitally transformed enterprises contributed $13.5 trillion to the global GDP”.
The agency warned Nigerians against downloading unregistered loan-based applications.
“If we accept what ASUU is saying, it will create room for everyone to be asking for their own payment platform; the military is on IPPIS and health workers.”
“We are hopeful that Mr President will buy into the agreement, and with that, this matter will be speedily brought to a close.”
The proposed regulation has been criticised as an attempt by the government to regulate social media through the backdoor.
The directive came down on Monday.
NITDA says it was forced to impose the fine after Soko Loans refused to change its intrusive business model for retrieving failed loans from its users.
Fresh audio obtained by The Gazette contradicted Isa Pantami’s recent claims that he had long maintained a hardline posture against Boko Haram.
“We are all happy whenever unbelievers are being killed,” Mr Pantami said. “But the Sharia does not allow us to kill them without a reason.”
