The south-west zonal commander of TRACE, Adekunle Ajibade, gave the warning while speaking in Ota.
She also admonished motorists against drunk driving.
He said TRACE corps commander, Seni Ogunyemi, had mandated all commands to train truck drivers within their jurisdictions on the need to respect road safety rules.
Mr Ogunyemi said about 375 persons got injured within the period.
Mr Akinbiyi explained that of the deaths recorded, 146 were males and 46 were females from the 630 accident cases recorded in the year.
He said the passenger was crushed to death when she suddenly fell under the truck.
He said the witness accounts indicated that the driver of one of the vehicles was driving against traffic and got involved in a collision with the other.
“Two passengers died on the spot, a male and a female, while three others were injured, a male and two female, while the 12 other passengers escaped unhurt,” he said.
Mr Akinbiyi explained that the accident occurred at 9:59 a.m. and was caused by a tyre burst.
The hardship being experienced now is temporary.
