TRACE appeals to motorists for caution amid Xmas, New Year celebrations

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps on Monday warned motorists against reckless and uncoordinated driving during the festive season to avoid road crashes.
The south-west zonal commander of TRACE, Adekunle Ajibade, gave the warning while speaking in Ota.
He said that the advice had become necessary because “life has no duplicate.”
Mr Ajibade underscored the need for motorists to get adequate rest and sleep, adding that driving in a sleepy state could be dangerous.
“We urge motorists who are travelling to look for a safer place to rest whenever they are tired.
“They should also ensure that all vehicle components, especially the brake system, are functioning well, and also reduce their speed because speed kills,” he said.
Mr Ajibade implored motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations so as to ensure sanity during the festive season.
He also enjoined motorists to desist from drunk-driving to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.
Meanwhile, he called for cooperation with TRACE personnel and other traffic agencies so as to ensure a free flow of traffic during the festive period.
