Mr Jimoh reassured the public of the police’s continuous commitment to the safety and security of lives and property along highways.
The governor said the recruitment was part of efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture.
The commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said Mr Ogungbemi, 29, allegedly confessed to volunteering as an informant.
The governor said the recruitment became imperative because the Amotekun corps was overstretched.
A police spokesman said Amotekun Corps are in charge of the case and until it is reported to the police, it cannot investigate the matter.
