“Any coalition without electoral reforms in place shall labour in vain,” Mr Farotimi said, referring the public to his stance on the 2027 election in an interview.
Mr Rufai, 61, died on Thursday after a brief illness.
On Tuesday, the coalition announced the adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the official party to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
“Bitter Peter is a hypocrite of the worst order,” said the presidential spokesperson.

Mr Tinubu’s scholarship offer coincides with the prevailing, unprecedented economic hardship and rising poverty resulting from his economic policies.
Mr Nwosu said, “Nigerians are yearning for change. They are yearning for the coalition.”
The politician urged the president to prioritise addressing the country’s challenges above vacations abroad.
