Mr Okpebholo assured the public that the case would not be swept under the carpet, vowing to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to the victim, the incident happened on Saturday at about 2:31 p.m. along Uturu Road.
The police boss commended the officers for their swift response.
The police spokesperson said that the victims were severely beaten by the mob who chased them on motorcycles.
The Metropolitan Police in a statement on Thursday stated that investigation into the murder commenced on April 2, 2026.
“The police action was carried out for no apparent reason,” he said.
The police command in Niger says it has arrested a suspected cultist, Agada Isaac, with a pistol and military items in the Bida LGA.
The U.S. Secret Service confirmed the shooting.
The motive of the driver is yet to be ascertained.
He said 33 rustled cattle were also recovered from suspected terrorists.
