France has allegedly received threats of terrorist attacks following the massacre of 143 people by terrorists in Moscow.
Health minister Aurélien Rousseau resigned in December in a protest against the law.
Mr Macron was speaking on Tuesday in Tel Aviv during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
It was reported that the man was heard shouting “God is great” before carrying out his attack.
“In the weeks and months to come, we will consult with the putschists because we want this to be done peacefully,” Mr Macron said.
The ban comes after extensive debate in France about whether the abaya is a religious symbol or an ordinary garment.
