It was not immediately clear whether Yemi Osinbajo declined to congratulate Bola Tinubu because the former Lagos governor snubbed him at the convention ground Wednesday.
Mr Tinubu on Wednesday defeated 13 other aspirants to clinch the party APC ticket for the 2023 presidential election.
“Those who did not support me, you have nothing to fear. I hold no grudges,” he said in his acceptance speech.
The victory solidifies Mr Tinubu’s reputation as a political giant-slayer who defied all the odds to upstage the so-called cabal of President Buhari’s aides and associates.
At least five delegates from both states told The Gazette in separate interviews Tuesday that they were offered American banknotes to support Mr Tinubu and the vice president.
The so-called shortlist was purportedly submitted to President Buhari on Tuesday.
“The president told us any of these five are qualified to be president and have contributed to the party. He said he is comfortable with any of them.”
The tweet was deleted after 1,721 individuals voted, with Mr Osinbajo leading with 43 per cent and Mr Tinubu trailing him, having garnered 40 per cent of the votes.
“We have asked him what disdain he has for our region that makes it impossible for him to visit us,” an APC delegate who received the invitation disclosed to Peoples Gazette.
This is for their children and grandchildren who were not there and were not taught the history of those terrible days.
