Peter Jiya, senator representing Niger South senatorial district, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.
The Senate president directed the INEC to conduct by-elections within the stipulated constitutional timeframe.
Mr Tinubu stated that the loan would be disbursed in tranches to support federal funding needs and fiscal liquidity management.
The Senators noted that Mr Abaribe could lose his seat if he does not reconsider his resignation from APGA.
Meanwhile, Mr Tinubu has Ismail Yusuf as the new NAHCON chief.
“We will…ensure that the dividends of our policies are felt across every state and every community in this country,” said Mr Tinubu.
The amendment noted that if electronic transmission failed due to network communication issues, manual result sheets (Form EC8A) would be used for election results collation.
Mr Odo noted that all senators were invited to attend the emergency plenary.
“We want a law that is clear, concise, and can be interpreted by all and that is unambiguous, so, it is electronic transmission of results,” Mr Abaribe said.
Mr Akpabio announced their defections separately during plenary.
