SMEDAN’s chief enterprise officer, Ishaq Hamis, stated this at the inauguration of the training exercise in Yola on Thursday.
She expressed optimism that the training would strengthen the institutional capacity as well as that of the aged women.
“Their current role is to enter the market and help small businesses thrive.”
The programme targeted young entrepreneurs to improve micro, small and medium enterprises.
The programme is to enhance the productivity and export potential of beneficiaries in the manufacturing and processing sectors within the state.
The SMEDAN boss also noted that the MSMEs had made an encouraging contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product of 46.31 per cent, saying that more needed to be done.
SMEDAN says West African countries must create export-ready MSMEs to compete with exports from other countries.
SMEDAN boss Wale Fasanya said the programme was being implemented in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The training…would be held across the six geopolitical zones from January 18 to 20 and January 25 through January 27.
“We can manufacture cars in Aba, and Aba can make anything that is made in China, but we need only one thing, light and nothing else.”
