“The suspect conspired with one other, now at large, to vandalise critical rail track components,” the police said.
Mr Wakil said the suspect claimed to have used the proceeds to buy Indian hemp and food.
The police command in Bauchi has pledged to provide adequate security during the planned nationwide protest scheduled to begin on August 1.
The CP said the command deployed teams and logistics to prayer grounds, event centres and other public places for Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The police spokesperson said investigation was ongoing on the case.
A 20-year-old suspect has been arrested for the kidnap and murder of the policeman’s son.
A witness, Laraba Saleh, said several other people, women and children, were injured during the stampede in Bauchi.
Mr Wakil said that four females were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The CP said the command would not tolerate any act of jungle justice.
He added that the command would not tolerate such reckless acts and would come hard on the perpetrators.
