“Preliminary investigation revealed that shortly after the child’s disappearance, the suspect contacted the parents and demanded ₦200,000 for the child’s release,” he said.
Mr Habib said police operatives promptly responded upon receiving the report and arrested the suspect.
The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, called on members of the public to remain vigilant in their daily transactions.
The police urged the public to avoid violence in resolving disputes.
Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested an 18-year-old boy, Basit Tijani, for allegedly defiling a 17-year-old girl.
