Mr Mudashiru was allegedly macheted to death in his father’s house on Wednesday by suspected rival political thugs.
“They have given their stories on what happened, and the CP has ordered that they should be released while investigations continue.”
The police said it was in contact with the NBA and other stakeholders towards ensuring that justice prevails.
The police spokesman said that the suspect had been arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation and had been remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre.
The about 46 years old woman had on Friday lodged at the guest house with her companion simply identified as Alfa Sule.
Mr Hundeyin said that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The suspects, Akpan Fortune, 28, and Stanley Umebuane, 24, were arrested at Ikeja and Ikoyi, respectively, on Sunday.
A relation of the lecturer revealed that the kidnappers had contacted the family, demanding N50 million ransom.
The incident happened at about 3:00 a.m. on Friday behind City Rock Hotel, Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of the state.
