According to the police, the principal suspect confessed that the missing girl was his girlfriend and was four-month pregnant.
The suspects allegedly faked a kidnap and collected N150,000 as ransom.
The police said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 135 of the Penal code of Benue 2004.
The man was said to have started beating his wife when the deceased insisted on engaging the service of a carpenter to fix their window net.
The policemen extorted N25,000 from a traveller and physically assaulted another.
The suspects were alleged to have strangled the cassava seller and buried his corpse in a shallow grave in the bush.
“Avoid Obalende right now. Thugs are heavily armed with guns shooting here and there,” DE-COMMUNICATOR said.
