Commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators in Kaduna have lamented the petrol price hike and scarcity.
Mr Obiwa is standing trial on a charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Among the suspects is a 10-year-old boy.
“To forestall a total breakdown of law and order, the state government hereby suspends all tricycle and shuttle bus unions with immediate effect for six months.”
The accused also collected the complainant’s motorcycle for hire purchase to pay N200,000, but he only paid N 18,000 and criminally absconded.
“The tricycle operator parked near a river with the intention of washing the tricycle but unfortunately slid into the river.”
David Akin, a commercial tricycle operator in Sabo, said the unions, numbering more than five, demanded daily taxes from them, a trend that made their operation rather challenging.
The Kano government on Monday banned the operations of commercial tricycles after 10:00 p.m., as part of security measures.
The state government said the development followed a resolution at its security meeting and would take effect from Thursday.
