Tailor sentenced to jail for stealing radio
A magistrate’s court in Jos on Thursday sentenced a 19-year-old tailor, Frank Pam, to 18 months in prison for stealing an MP3 radio.
The magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Ms Pati, however, gave the convict the option of a fine of N50,000 or spending one year in prison.
She also ordered him to pay N400,000 as compensation or spend six months in prison.
The prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on January 13 at the Angol-Jos Police Station by the complainant, Sunday Ladong.
Mr Gokwat said that the convict stole the radio valued at N400,000.
He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
