Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Taraba, Solomon Elisha, has criticised the killing of three policemen and a woman in fresh crisis in Kurmi local government area of the state.

The killing was committed when crisis erupted between Ichen and Ndaka tribes in Kurmi local government area of the state.

Mr Elisha, while speaking to reporters in Jalingo on Tuesday expressed sadness that it was unfortunate that brothers chose to take arms against themselves.

He noted that instead of facing the economic crisis that crippled the activities of the two communities people chose to fight over issues that had not any benefit.

According to him, “When this issue started the state government was on top of the situation and stakeholders had engaged the various groups in dialogue.

“I am an Ichen man from Kurmi; I have spoken to my people to lay down their arms and resolve whatsoever is the issue.

“Governor Darius Ishaku during his recent visit to Kurmi spoke to the two feuding parties which they agreed to co-exist and live in peace,” he said.

The Commissioner, who is a stakeholder from Kurmi LGA, commended the governor for setting up a commission of enquiry to wade into the crisis with the view to bringing an end to the conflict.

It will be recalled that the Taraba Police Command had earlier confirmed the killing of three policemen and a woman in the crisis between Ichen and Ndaka tribes.
