The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has requested the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to take supply from other feeders following a faulty transformer at Apo substation.

Ndidi Mbah, TCN’S general manager, public affairs, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.

Mrs Mbah noted that the supply to customers on the outgoing 33KV feeders connected to the affected 100MVA transformer at Apo substation could be taken from other TCN feeders within its franchise area, pending completion of repairs.

“At about 12:56 a.m. on Friday, one of the100 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) 132/33 Kilo Volt (KV) transformers at Apo Substation tripped on differential relay indication while on no load,” she said.

She said that initial inspection revealed oil spillage around the transformer.

”However, further investigation by TCN maintenance crew revealed faults with the red and yellow phase 33KV bushings of the 100MVA power transformer.

”Presently, the red phase bushing has been resuscitated, while work is ongoing on the yellow phase,” she said.

According to her, TCN’S engineers are working to restore the transformer.

Mrs Mbah expressed the company’s sincerely apology for the inconvenience the incident had caused the AEDC and electricity customers connected to the affected feeders.

The AEDC had via its X handle announced a power outage affecting several parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), attributing the disruption to a technical fault.
