Tech university will broaden education in Imo, says Governor Uzodimma

Governor Hope Uzodimma says the University of Innovation, Science and Technology, Omumma, will broaden education in Imo and the country.
He made the remarks in Abuja when the executive secretary of the National Universities Commission, Abdullahi Ribadu, presented him with the Certificate of Recognition of the newly established institution.
Mr Uzodimma said, “It is an honour and moment of appreciation to the management and staff of NUC in recognising this university. It is part of our quest to broaden education and create wider access for our youth population.
“This university will encourage digital skills innovation, science, and technology. Imo state wants our youths to be properly educated, to support the growth of our economy and quality itself. It will reduce the struggle of our young people to access tertiary education.
“The institution will be in partnership with Imo Digital City and the University of Berkeley, California, as the mentoring institution, which will play a role in designing a practical curriculum. Graduates here will come out as employers and job creators as the focus is on entrepreneurship and innovation,” he said.
Mr Ribadu said that the university was a statement of the commitment of the Imo government to education and expansion of access for Nigerians.
“We are committed to ensuring that tertiary education meets the highest standards in Nigeria. The institution is a bold step in the governor’s commitment to empowering youths and promoting knowledge-driven development,” added the NUC chief.
