Ten dismissed police officers recalled

The Police Service Commission has approved the reinstatement of10 dismissed police officers, converted two dismissals to retirement and rejected six appeals for lack of merit.
A spokesman for the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
The statement said the decision was taken at the 17th plenary meeting of the commission, presided over by PSC acting chairman Clara Ogunbiyi.
The commission pledged to ensure that appeals and petitions by aggrieved police officers were treated with dispatch to ensure that no police officer was unjustly punished.
The commission also approved the conversion of 301 ICT professionals to general duty and the special promotion of Daniel Amah, a chief superintendent of police, to assistant commissioner of police.
The statement explained that Mr Amah’s special promotion followed his exemplary conduct in rejecting a bribe of $200,000 during his duty as the divisional police officer in Bompai, Kano.
The officer was presented with the ‘Honesty and Integrity Service Award’ with a cash gift of N1 million.
The PSC also approved the promotion of 48 staff members of the commission.
