Communications and digital economy minister Isa Pantami has deployed digital emergency call centres to fight armed bandits in Zamfara.

Mr Pantami, with a murky past of terror and extremism, said the centres provided in Zamfara were specially for security and employment purposes.

The minister had also expressed disgust for non-Muslims, stating he was always happy when terrorists or Islamic extremists killed “unbelievers.”

The minister commended Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara for his ongoing efforts to protect the state against bandits when the latter visited him.

Mr Matawalle said his administration would utilise the three digital emergency call centres provided by Mr Pantami’s ministry to end banditry in Zamfara.

According to a statement by his media aide, Yusuf Idris, on Wednesday, the governor said his administration was determined to utilise the digital emergency centres fully.

He explained that technology played a vital role in securing societies, pointing out that his government is resolved to utilise all the centres in the state to end banditry and other crimes in the state.

He added that with proper utilisation of the new system, the country would return to its old glory of peaceful coexistence where every citizen will live peacefully with one another irrespective of tribe or region.

Mr Matawalle also lauded the minister’s digital support in the ongoing fight against banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling in the state in particular and nationally.

He further stated that the centres would, in addition, create job opportunities for Zamfara youths.
