Thailand launches 10-year strategy to become global wellness, medical service hub

Thailand has inaugurated a 10-year comprehensive strategy (2025-2034) aiming to become a global centre for wellness and medical services.
The plan was aimed at strengthening its health economy, enhancing international competitiveness, and promoting regional development through health tourism.
This is reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.
Under the Ministry of Public Health, the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine is collaborating with provincial health offices and national agencies to expand wellness centres across the country.
This initiative is part of the Thai government’s broader soft power strategy, focusing on health tourism as a driver of economic growth and international visibility.
According to the Thai Public Relations Department, Thailand’s health and wellness tourism sector generated over $12.3 billion in 2023, marking a 119.5 per cent increase year-on-year.
The country is currently home to more than 2,180 certified wellness centres.
The strategic plan includes the creation of job opportunities and enhanced skill-building in wellness-related professions.
It aims to build a robust wellness ecosystem by integrating Thailand’s biodiversity, traditional knowledge, and hospitality with modern therapeutic practices.
According to official information, the Thai government is set to launch additional global campaigns showcasing the country in this area.
