Three arrested for robbing Gateway Poly students

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command arrested three suspects for allegedly robbing the students of Gateway Polytechnic, Sapaade, Ogun State, when they were away on holiday.
Multiple robbery attacks have been recorded in the school since November, resulting in the deaths of two students, with several others reportedly injured.
In an attempt to address the situation, the management of the institution suspended physical classes and directed students not to come to school for two weeks.
However, on January 8, 2024, the residence of some students in the Obalande area of Isara Remo was reportedly broken into, leading to the arrest of one Musa Adamu, Marasa Aliu, and Yahaya Muhammed in connection to the crime.
Following their arrest, the police recovered a 3kg cylinder and about three mattresses suspected of being stolen from the students’ apartment.
Confirming the development to the Punch on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that some students returned to the school after the holiday to discover that their apartments had been ransacked and many of their belongings stolen.
“The students just returned from holidays and discovered that their apartment had been broken into. There was a reported case of some stolen items. Our investigation led us to the arrest of Adamu and two other suspects in the crime,” she said.
Prior to the arrest of the trio, the police had also apprehended at least eight suspected robbers in connection with robberies and killings in the school in the last two months, while two Lexus cars and other items stolen during some of the attacks were also recovered.
