Three men, Yahusa Jubril, Ajayi Emmanuel and Ajayi Olumide, were on Thursday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, over alleged breach of peace.

The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and possession of hemp.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodeji Aina, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 7, at about 10:00 a.m in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.

Mr Aina also alleged that the defendants had in their possession a wrap of weed suspected to be hemp.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 181(1)(d) and 5(b) of the Indian Hemp Act LFN 2004.

The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

The counsel to the defendants, Blessing Falaye, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Olatomiwa Daramola, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N20, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case till July 24, for hearing.
