Three in court for allegedly stealing tricycle, copper wire

Three men, Abiodun Adekanbi, Mubarak Mohammed and Abubakar Sanusi, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a tricycle engine and a Mercedes Benz copper wire.
Adekanbi, 22, Muhammed, 23 and Sanusi, 23, whose addresses were not disclosed, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy to wit: felony and stealing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, said the offences were committed sometime in March at about 3:00 a.m. at Anchor Petroleum Ltd., No. 106, Awolowo road, Itamaga area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
He said that the defendants stole a TVC tricycle engine valued at M200,000, property of Tochukwu Omaba and a copper wire valued at N200,000, property of Anchor Petroleum.
Mr Isaac further stated that the defendant on May 7 at the same place jumped into the company to attempt to steal.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 411, 287 and 406 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, B.A. Sonuga, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
Mr Sonuga adjourned the case till June 16 for further mention.
