Three men arraigned in Lagos for alleged N3.7 million minibus theft

Three men, Sunday Olatunji (40), Bukola Buhari (40) and Akeem Ogunware (53), were on Monday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for alleged conspiracy and theft of a minibus valued at N3.7 million.
The defendants were brought before Magistrate L.A. Owolabi on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty.
Police prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the trio, on Aug. 24, at about 2:00 p.m. at Old Trafford Hotel, Elere Agege, Lagos, conspired to steal a minibus with registration number LSR 799YK.
According to Ms Ikhayere, the vehicle, worth N3.7 million, is the property of one Ibrahim Akinsanya.
She alleged that the defendants diverted the proceeds of the theft to their personal use, contrary to Sections 280 and punishable under Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate Owolabi granted them bail in the sum of N450,000 each, with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a tax-paying resident of Lagos.
The matter was adjourned to Oct. 7 for further hearing.
