Three more students rescued in Kebbi college abduction: Army
The Nigerian Army says the Operation Hadarin Daji troops supported by the Nigerian Air Force have rescued a teacher and three students abducted at the Federal Government College, Birnin Yawuri, Kebbi.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said they were rescued on Saturday at Makuku in Kebbi.
Armed bandits kidnapped an unspecified number of teachers and students from the school on Thursday night. Three teachers and eight students were reported rescued on Friday and Saturday by the army after a firefight with the kidnappers.
The army added that the troops also killed one bandit and recovered nine motorcycles and four handsets from the fleeing kidnappers.
The army spokesman explained that additional troops had also been deployed in the area to curtail the bandits’ activities.
