Three scavengers arraigned for allegedly snatching gold necklace from motorist

The police on Tuesday arraigned three scavengers, Kabiru Dauda, Ibrahim Sani and Sulaiman Usman, before a Chief Magistrates’ Court, Wuse, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a gold necklace from a motorist.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Chinenye Okafor, told the court that the complainant, Ibrahim Yakubu, reported the matter at Utako Police Station on July 18.
Ms Okafor said that the defendants and one other, now at large, conspired and stole the complainant’s gold necklace while he was in his car, making a phone call.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The Magistrate, Abubakar Sadiq, admitted them to N200,000 bail each, with one surety each in like sum.
Ms Sadiq said that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
He added that the sureties must also produce a voter card, national identity card and swear to a means of livelihood, while their addresses must be verified by the court’s registrar.
The magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the matter until September 2 for hearing.
