Tinubu felicitates Segun Osoba at 90

President Bola Tinubu, on Friday, congratulated Segun Osoba on his 90th birthday, celebrating the historian, activist, and scholar as one of Nigeria’s finest minds.
In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Mr Tinubu lauded Mr Osoba for his decades of activism and scholarship.
“Osoba retired in 1991 as a history lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and has since been based in his hometown, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.”
Mr Tinubu lauded Mr Osoba’s significant contributions to advancing knowledge, promoting scholarship, and inspiring generations of Nigerians.
He also commended Mr Osoba for his role in Nigeria’s constitutional development, recalling his membership in the committee that drafted the 1979 Constitution, which laid the foundation for the Second Republic.
“Notably, Osoba and Dr Yusuf Bala Usman produced a minority report recommending the removal of immunity clauses for presidents and governors, as well as setting the minimum age for eligibility to run for office at 30.
“The military government rejected the entire report at the time,” said Mr Tinubu.
Mr Tinubu thanked Mr Osoba for his patriotism and dedicated service to the nation, praying for many more years of good health and continued contributions to Nigeria.
