Governor David Umahi has vowed that APC presidential flag bearer Bola Tinubu will take good care of Igbos and assures that the South-East will vote for the ruling party in the 2023 general elections.

Mr Umahi made these assurances while inaugurating the Ebonyi Governor’s Lodge on Wednesday in Abuja.

The Ebonyi governor said his assurances reflected the views of other governors in the South-East, urging Igbos to throw their weight behind Mr Tinubu, a Yoruba from the South-West against Igbo candidate Peter Obi from the Labour Party.

“So, we welcome Asiwaju and the governors to Ebonyi state for the mother of all rallies. Your excellency, you will see what an engineer can do when you come,” stated Mr Umahi. “We are not hiding to say that you are our candidate, and you will take care of South-East people, and all our votes will go to APC. There is no mistake about that.”

The Ebonyi governor added, “So, the people of the South-East, we have spoken. I am the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, so I speak on their behalf. We know where it would be better for us in 2023, and that is the APC.”

Mr Umahi also declared that a mother of all political rally would organise on behalf of Mr Tinubu as a show of support for his presidential ambition and an indication of the number of votes to be garnered in favour of the APC in the 2023 elections in Ebonyi.

“We would do a rally that has never been witnessed in the entire South-East in Ebonyi state,” Mr Umahi explained. “Any party that comes to Ebonyi and can gather the content of that population, we would allocate some votes to you because none of you can do that.”
