Tinubu’s food security reforms yielding positive results: Minister

The federal government stated on Friday that the food security reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu are yielding positive results.
The minister of agriculture and food security, Abubakar Kyari, stated this in Ilorin during an agriculture and human capital development empowerment programme.
The programme was organised by Senator Salihu Mustapha, who represents Kwara Central.
“The reform President Tinubu initiated in terms of food security is working; we have seen and are feeling that food is not only available, but prices are gradually becoming affordable.
“That is to show that the president is a champion. That is to show that the president is working in the best interest of all Nigerians.
“I would commend my partners in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for doing well and aligning with the president’s aspirations.
“I also applaud my able chairman, Senator Mustapha, who is overseeing me. He has helped put all of us on our toes to align with the president’s vision,” Mr Kyari said.
Earlier, Deputy Senate President Jubril Barau stated that the aim of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is to ensure food security for all Nigerians.
“Agriculture and human capital development are the key areas that are very important to our national development.
“Of course, there is no need to waste much time talking about the importance of agriculture to every society.
“Agriculture is the sine qua non to the survival of any society. It is the foundation of any society because, without food, there is no life.
“No wonder the Senate decided to appoint Mustapha as its Agriculture Committee Chair. He is an outstanding person and a party leader with deep knowledge of the sector.
“Human capital development is what is in vogue all over the world. It is what drives the economy of every developed society, and that is what the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president is all about.
“Forget it if you don’t have an arrangement that will enhance human capital development. You need to have skilled people who will drive your development,” Mr Barau said.
The deputy senate president also commended Mr Mustapha for bringing smiles to the faces of his constituents.
In support of the programme, he donated 200 sewing machines.
In his remarks, Mr Mustapha stated that the project aligns with Mr Tinubu’s agenda, adding that significant effort was made to train individuals in maintaining, repairing, and restoring solar panels.
“We are organising this programme to support the state government in its quest to improve the lives of the people,” Mr Mustapha said.
The national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bashir Ajibola, urged constituents to reciprocate the gesture by voting massively for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
“I enjoin you all to support President Tinubu and Sen. Mustapha in the elections with your votes. I repeat, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027,” he added.
No fewer than 2,500 people benefited from the empowerment programme.
The items distributed included 250 deep freezers, over 400 irrigation machines, and vehicles for each of the four local government areas in the senatorial district.
Additionally, 450 grinding machines, eight tractors, convertible tricycles, cows, and other essentials were provided.
