Many road users in Ibadan, Oyo State, were left stranded on Saturday, as they expressed difficulty navigating major routes across the metropolis.
The prosecutor said the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants were eventually arrested following a police investigation.
The Peoples Democratic Party says the conduct of its national convention on Saturday in Ibadan is sacrosanct.
“We are relying on the judgment of the Supreme Court,” said Mr Wabara.
“The jackets will serve as visible identification, improve safety and security, and give the transport sector a more professional outlook,” the commissioner said.
The state coordinator stated that one of the suspects admitted to sourcing the pirated books from the open market in Lagos.
Police said a suspect, Jayeola Joshua, was arrested along with two others, while 15 young girls aged 20 to 26 were accommodated in an apartment in Alagbaka, Akure.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
“The exercise is just to assist in decongesting this facility; it is an exercise that is meant to be undertaken periodically,” said the chief judge.
