TRACE considers special task force on Lagos-Abeokuta road to curb random parking

The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps said it will establish a special task force to check indiscriminate parking of commercial motorcyclists at Toll-gate area of Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The South-West Zonal Commander of TRACE, Adekunle Ajibade, made this known during an interview on Wednesday in Ota, Ogun State.
Mr Ajibade said that the Corps Commander of TRACE, Seni Ogunyemi, had given the directive to set up a task force to check excesses of commercial motorcyclists at the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway toll gate.
He expressed worry over incessant cases of road crashes involving motorcyclists at this corridor.
Mr Ajibade said that the task force, comprising police, army and nNavy personnel would be set up to check indiscriminate parking of commercial motorcyclists at the toll-gate area.
“Any offender caught at the toll-gate axis picking passengers after re-allocating them to a new place would have his motorcycle impounded.
We are appealing to them to obey traffic rules and use their crash helmets to avert disaster,” he said.
Mr Ajibade warned road users to be patient along the corridor to avoid unnecessary loss of life.
He also stressed the need for commercial buses to desist from indiscriminate parking on the road in picking passengers to prevent oncoming vehicles from colliding with them.
