Trader jailed for assaulting neighbour

A magistrate’s court in Jos, on Tuesday, sentenced a 38-year-old trader, Hadiza Abdullahi, to nine months in prison for assaulting her neighbour.
The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict, who had earlier pleaded guilty to the charge.
Ms Bokkos, in her judgment, gave the convict the option of a fine of N50,000 and also ordered her to pay compensation of N15,000 or spend an additional three months in default.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Ijuptil Thaiwur, told the court that the case was reported at the “C” Division Police Station on March 29 by Zainab Mohammed, the complainant.
Thaiwur said that the convict had an argument with the complainant and hit her on the head, and she sustained an injury in the process.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
