A magistrates’ court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 32-year-old trader, Abdulrahman Yusuf, to three years’ imprisonment for breaking into a house and stealing.

The magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict following his guilty plea to charges preferred by the police.

The court, however, gave the convict the option of a N100,000 fine.

The prosecutor, Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that a complainant, Suleiman Abubakar, reported the case at the ‘C’ Police division in Jos on February 15.

Mr Thiawur said the convict broke into the complainant’s house and stole his plasma TV and fan valued at N185,000.

The prosecutor said that during the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that he sold the items to a suspect (Hassan) now at large.
