Two bandits killed in Kaduna as abduction attempt turns sour
At least two bandits were fatally shot by troops of the Nigerian Army while the gun-wielding men attempted to kidnap women in a village in Kaduna State.
The operation was executed by troops of Operation Thunder Strike at “Five-Thirty” village in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
The armed bandits met their waterloo while trying to whisk away four women they abducted from the village.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made the disclosure on Tuesday in a statement issued in Kaduna.
Mr. Aruwan noted that the troops interjected the bandits following a distress call during the attack.
The commissioner said the bandits were forced to abandoned their captives following a gun duel that ensued.
“After the skirmish, the corpses of two bandits were recovered, while the others escaped with possible gunshot wounds,” Mr. Aruwan said.
However, the commissioner further disclosed that a soldier sustained a gunshot wound and is recuperating.
