Two British tourists identified as Jeven Agyekum Hood and Kieren Caria have been hospitalised after they allegedly stabbed each other with a knife during an altercation during their trip to Thailand.

The Crime Asia said the incident occurred on the 36th floor of Cassia Hotel in Bangkok in week when an argument broke out between Messrs Hood and Caria inside their room following a night out in the Southeast Asian country.

Reports noted that residents in the area heard screaming coming from the room before Mr Caria was seen leaving while grabbing his stomach from a suspected injury. He reportedly returned to the room with a knife and more arguments ensued.

Both men were said to have been captured on security camera together entering the room, where the incident happened together at around 2:16 a.m. before they were embroiled in the bloody standoff.

It was gathered that the manager of the hotel immediately called police after Messrs Hood and Caria both collapsed on the ground lobby after staggering out of an elevator.

The pair were subsequently rushed to the hospital by emergency service.

Meanwhile, Thai police have opened an investigation into the matter. Authorities also recovered a 10-inch long folding knife with bloodstains from the elevator as part of their probe.

The police alleged in their initial assessment that the tourists were suspected to have been involved in a hot argument before it escalated into a stabbing attack, which left them severely injured.

Investigators were still waiting to extract statements from the men to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
