Two children killed, man burnt alive as vehicles collide in Ede

An accident involving a truck and a Hummer bus on Ede Road, Osun State, has claimed the lives of two children and a young man who was burned alive, leaving several others injured.
The incident occurred on Monday evening around 6:26 p.m., when the two vehicles burst into flames after colliding.
A witness, Ayoola Babalola, informed Peoples Gazette that the accident occurred after “the Hummer bus made a terrible overtake on the narrow road and collided with the incoming truck which had also swerved towards the center of the road to dodge a misbehaving taxi-bus.”
Mr Babalola said that while he narrowly escaped the accident, two children who were traveling with their father in the bus died. Their father survived but suffered a visibly shattered lower left foot.
The witness also mentioned that apart from the two children, a young man was trapped in the burning vehicle, with bystanders trying to help him escape—all to no avail.
Mr Babalola disclosed that at the time of the accident, no fire extinguisher or fire service personnel were available to help. He added that the two Osun emergency response service lines they tried failed to connect at the time of the incident.
