Two men in court for allegedly stealing four mobile phones in church

Two men were on Thursday arraigned in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing four cellphones from a church.

The police charged Emmanuel Nkemakonam, 24 and Lateef Azeez, 20 with conspiracy and theft.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on September 2, at a church in Ojo.

He alleged that the defendants stole a Redmi phone and Itel phones belonging to Joshua Godspower, Israel Adenola, Emmanuel Okasi and Nnamdi ObajI.

He said that the phones worth N448,000.

He added that the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Magistrate L.K.J Layeni admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N300,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

He adjourned the case until October 3, for mention.
