Two plead guilty of stealing items worth N6 million in Ibadan

Two burglars; Usman Akintayo and Baseet Amzat pleaded guilty before a Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday to stealing six grams of gold and other items worth over six million naira.
Akintayo and Amzat pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of breaking and stealing when the charges were read to them.
The Court’s President, O.E. Owoseni consequently adjourned the case until March 17 for presentation of facts and judgment.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Ayeni had told the court that the defendants committed the crime on February 19, at Idi-Arere area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Mr Ayeni added that the duo broke into the shop of a businesswoman, Tunrayo Fele and stole 35 pieces of wrist watches valued at N600, 000.
Other items include; 30 pieces of earrings valued at N225,000, 24 pieces of hand chains valued at N360,000, six pieces of handbag valued at N180,000, six pieces of costume sets valued at N180,000, 10 pieces of gold chain valued at N1.3 million and six grams of gold valued at N4.085,000 million.
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 38 vol. ii law of Oyo State 2000.
